Super palace in a really good maintenance condition. It is actually quite impressive from the outside, as you would not expect to find such a nice building hidden away and outside of the usual tourist paths. The surroundings are beautiful also!
I have been here many times, always wonderful to see, the tour is nice, so glad it's still there to visit
We visited here on a rainy day in August. You can tour 4 rooms for no cost and then must join a tour to see some other rooms in the castle. The castle is beautiful and so different from the older castle ruins we have also visited. Although the tour is in German, they had written tour sheets in English so you could follow along during the tour. Worth the hour drive for us to get there.
One of the best parts of German history! This place makes me happy and I will come back every time when I visit Bad Arolsen!
Really nice place. Aristocrats who lived here visited very often Bad Pyrmont. Royals family. The Queen Emma etc.
Lovely place, nice old City
Top!
This was wonderful
Arolsen Castle is a baroque castle in Bad Arolsen, Hesse, Germany. The castle is now a museum and is still home to Wittekind, Prince of Waldeck and Pyrmont, and his family. As a result, it continues to serve as the residence of the former ruling family of the Principality of Waldeck and Pyrmont.
Built in the early 18th century, the main body of the castle was completed in 1728. Furniture, equipment, furnishings remained for several decades until the castle was finally put into use.
Built in 1840, the Fürstlich Waldecksche Hofbibliothek (Prince Waldeck's Court Library) today contains almost all the literature of the 18th century in the relevant fields of knowledge. The collection is dedicated to world geography, history, literature and military affairs.
Excursion with a guide - very interesting, 12€. Plus for permission to take pictures, 5€
Magnificent residential palace with original furnishings. The family still lives in the house, but the central representative rooms are accessible on tours. Very worthwhile because of the authentic overall impression, the partly high-quality works of art (main works of all three important table legs!) and the very committed and competent guides. The best reason for a trip to Waldecker Land!
